[Jiro had a feeling this was coming. Kaminari had to deal with it, thanks to the sacrificial wine they were all forced to drink, so it was only a matter of time before she had to, too. It's why she's ended up with a fox's ears and a set of nine, long tails, all spilling out behind her and causing a little chaos just due to their sheer number and unpredictability. Those aren't actually too bad, though! No, the title of "worst part of this whole thing" definitely goes to the paws. Her hands had taken the form of soft little fox paws, complete with the claws and pads and incredibly useless in a place built for people with thumbs.
She's been able to manage with day-to-day stuff for the first, well, day - using a mix of her jacks and getting by with some help from her friends - but once the night's rolled around, well... it's clear she's gonna need someone else's help again once more, because there's only so far you can get on your own with a set of paws and a pair of prehensile audio cables. So, of course, that's why she's ended up at Momo's bedroom door, knocking (or more like scratching, really) to try and get her attention.
Now, whether or not Jiro will actually admit right out what her problem is? That's an entirely different story. She's mentally patting herself on the back for getting the courage to knock in the first place, she'll get there.]
[The Iris Cycle had been hellish, Momo had to admit. She'd stayed in her room, curled up, basically only coming out when she was sure that Jiro was out or occupied. The feelings in her stomach, the gurgling, roiling heat that built up in her body, was miserable...and unfamiliar. She had urges, the same as any other teen, but this was different. New. And intense.
When it passed, she'd hoped to have a few more weeks to prepare for the next, but the triple cycle came on hard. And so had Jiro's strange transformation. It wasn't the strangest thing she had ever seen, but it was certainly inconvenient and she had done her best to help out with the paw issue.
When night fell, the feelings grew more intense and she'd shut herself away, not wanting to burden anyone. The sound of footsteps outside made her skittishly look up, and the scritching at the door gave a clue about who was there before the voice confirmed it.
The door slides open just a fraction, the undeniable scent of Heat wafting out of the room, but Momo's smile...while shaky...was genuine.]
[As much as Jiro would love to be able to hide everything going on somewhere in her brain right now, her new features certainly aren't gonna allow that - because the moment Momo opens the door and Jiro's laid eyes on her, those tails immediately start lashing at a million miles a minute, her ears laying back against her hair in a tell-tale, uniquely fox sign of "Hey, hi, I like and respect you deeply and I'm so excited that you're here right now that I could just pop!!"
Obviously, Jiro's not too fond of it. She's just as immediately going to try and reach back and swat those tails into submission, even using her jacks to hold a couple still before looking at Momo again.]
H-hey! I just... you know, I was thinking --
[Okay, no, pause. Restart.]
... Remember how you said you're happy you're here for me when I'm lonely and all that jazz? Well, uh... would you like to - To hang out for a little while? Just for a bit, nothing big.
[It's hard choking her words out while trying to keep herself in check, and everything her nose is catching right now certainly isn't helping - and it doesn't help that she's Sanguis, either, with their intense sense of smell. It'd be easy for her to pick up normally with just how strong it is, but even putting aside the fox transformation she's going through, some traits are still kicking around... And it's distracting as hell.
She's not sure what it is, just that it's getting her own face to flush and her own pulse to pick up...]
[Momo is quiet, through that exchange, trying to contain her own racing thoughts and pulsing heartbeat. It's difficult, to say the least, to face down someone she appreciates and respects while she's stuck like this. Weak in the knees, cheeks flushed, and generally able to form coherent thoughts is not how she likes to interact with her best friend. But there's nothing for it.
She nods slowly at the question. Of course she remembers.
And a part of her curses herself for not thinking of inviting Jiro in sooner.
Stepping aside wordlessly, she nods a second time, this time quicker.]
I'd like that a lot. [She says all in one breathless, unpausing way.]
Please come in. I could really use the company. I'm...not feeling my best.
[Almost in retaliation for being held down, Jiro's bundle of tails start to whip even faster thanks to Momo's invitation, and she can't hide the way a smile picks up on her face as well. She ends up giving Momo a curt nod as she walks past her into her room, letting go of her tails once she's inside... holding onto them clearly isn't helping, after all.]
Mmm, you seem like you're having a hard time... But it's 'cause of your moon cycle, right?
[The look she gives her is a soft, apologetic little smile, clearly not trying to call her out with that - but doing it anyway, of course. Because it's Jiro, she's gonna call people out when they need it.]
Are you... having a hard time with something? Midoriya put together some notes on the cycles, so I've been trying to memorize them, and since he's Iris it's pretty detailed; so if you need help, you know...
[What are best friends for if not helping, right?]
[It's honestly hard to say if this comes as all one message, pagebreaks and all, or multiple singular messages. Either way, Momo, your phone about to get blown up by a square.]
Yaoyorozu!! I must apologize, you should have been one of, if not The first to be made aware of my return. I hope you weren't forced to take on too much responsibility in my absence, I know our classmates can be a handful. I can't say I understand the consequences surrounding my departure or return, but allow me to apologize for it regardless! I feel as though I should have had more control over it. Are you well?
[It's the middle of the afternoon on the first day of the Sanguis cycle for the month... and Jiro still hasn't come out of her room. Is there anything wrong? Definitely not - she's a late sleeper when no one's keeping her to a schedule, and Momo probably got to hear music playing from the room all day.
She's honestly just been spending some time to enjoy her moonblessings, which are finally back to normal. Jiro never thought she'd miss the fins so much...
Of course, while Jiro's done up for her cycle, that means Momo is (thankfully) 100% herself - and herself has gotta go out sometime, right? But the moment she goes to open the door to the apartment, Jiro's door ends up swinging open as well, and she peeks her head out of the doorframe with a look that's almost worried.]
Wait - are you already going out? It's way too early for that, isn't it...?
[It most certainly is not. It's, like, two in the afternoon.]
[Momo is rather quiet, herself, typically spending some time in her room reading. She doesn't want to disturb Jiro anyway, especially not when she's jamming out like that. Nothing is wrong with any of this, as far as she can tell.
IT's getting on towards two, and she decides that maybe she should get to the store and get some stuff, nothing fancy...when the door opens and suddenly there's Jiro.]
...Is it? I was just going to the corner market. I thought you were asleep, but I can bring you back something if you want?
[For a moment, she looks off to the side in thought - Before looking back at Momo again, and all that worry and everything seems to have cleared up, somehow!]
It might rain! Yeah, I heard it on the radio, there's a bad chance of one of those summer thunderstorms rolling in... Maybe you should wait until tomorrow for that?
Yaoyorozu, good morning. I have particular reason to believe today is important, so if you are to happen to have a free moment, I would like to meet up with you. Perhaps at that cafe we met at last month.
[Nowadays, you would be hardpressed to find someone who knows Momo like Jiro knows Momo. She knew this day was coming for more than a month now, especially after she sussed out how the calendar works around this place. It's taken a lot of time, planning, and Chroma to get everything prepared - helped along by the ease of Lunatia's technology, of course - and she'd lucked out considerably when Iida took Momo out for brunch in the morning --
Honestly, to cut to the chase here, once Momo gets back from all that? She's stepping into a totally different apartment. ... Or, at least, a different main room.
All the lights are dimmed in lieu of some soft colored lighting in reds and pinks, the windows blocked off with blackout curtains to really sell the atmosphere - and the corner that used to house the television (and its plentiful speakers) has been completely curtained off as well. Long, velvety drapes in a deep red hang from the ceiling in a semi-circle around the area, hiding everything that could be inside it... but it's also the source of the colored light, too. She's even taken the time to swap out the walls' red-and-black checkerboard on white for something she figured they'd both like; everything a light cream with a nice red trim on the bottom. (All of it stops at the kitchen, though. That still looks like someone's awful diner.) And, of course, Jiro's right there in front of it all, fiddling nervously with the ring hanging from her neck when Momo makes her way inside.
Strangely enough, the place is completely quiet.]
- Yaomomo! You're back already - how, uh... How'd it go?
[Y'know, the brunch thing. Yes, that's really how she's starting all this; no big "surprise!" or anything, considering she hasn't really set up a party...]
[The difference in the apartment is immediately noticeable. It's enough to make Momo stop in the door, eyes wide with wonder. Holy heck it looks nice, comfortable, though it wasn't bad before. She didn't mind Jiro's decorating tastes, but this reminds her...strangely...of her own house.
She turns to Jiro, setting the bagged gift Iida had left her with to one side and beams.]
It went well. I had fun, and I think he did too. He's very thoughtful.
[Score. That is EXACTLY the kind of reaction she was going for. Everyone's free to imagine Jiro internally fist-pumping in victory. Externally, though, she takes a few steps toward Momo herself, looking a little excited.]
This isn't even all of it! I just wanted it to have a cozy sorta vibe, you know? That's the gift.
[Said while pointing to the curtained-off corner of the room, of course. Which she's moving back over towards with an almost sheepish smile.]
It's not a whole lot... but I was thinking, and, y'know; it's not really my apartment anymore, right? You live here just as much as I do... I mean, sure, it's in my name, but whatever, right? That's not important. What is important is that I had the whole space, and all you had was your room. So I wanted to change that a little. We don't really use the TV and stuff anyway, so...
[She motions for Momo to go and pull back the curtain! Because she's not doing it, okay, she wants to see Momo's pure reaction to it when she sees it for herself.
"It" being, specifically, a little reading nook that Jiro's set up just for her. A nice armchair, a good-sized side table, the lamp giving off all that nice color in the first place... and, of course, a small stereo with a stack of CDs she'd done her best to pick out to fit Momo's tastes. (There's probably a couple in there she kinda fudged, but it's the thought that counts, right?)]
Momo walks around the chair, running a hand along the surface and enjoying the feel of it against her fingers. She's quiet, studying everything, and it takes her a moment to actually say more, or even look at Jiro.]
You're wonderful, you know that. I don't mind your style, but this feels more...us. Like a joint effort.
[Talk about having bad instincts to break. It's the very first day of the Sanguis cycle, and it's starting off nice and strong. Jiro had woken up at some ridiculous hour of the morning thanks to her moonblessings, spent an hour figuring them out, and... Found herself feeling ridiculously lonely. Not only that, but it kind of felt like there was only one person who could help ease that loneliness, too.
Which is to say, when Momo wakes up today? It's with Jiro, wolf bits and all, curled up and fast asleep at the foot of her bed.
[Momo startles slightly when she wakes up and pulls a bit of a face. Because not only was this unexpected, but wow. Really? Was this actually happening right now?]
...Uh. Jiro? What are you doing?
[Like hell is she going to try and wake her up with a poke. But the least that Jiro could've done would be to curl up next to her in the bed. There's room.]
[Even before she actually stirs at all, Jiro's tail seems to have caught Momo's voice and starts to wag - but after a moment, she moves, ending up stretching a bit and turning back a bit to look at Momo over her shoulder.]
... Sleeping?
[She looks pretty groggy. Let her brain warm up a second.]
night of 8/16! cw for underage shenanigans
Those aren't actually too bad, though! No, the title of "worst part of this whole thing" definitely goes to the paws. Her hands had taken the form of soft little fox paws, complete with the claws and pads and incredibly useless in a place built for people with thumbs.

Are you well?
no subject
She'll give him a few more seconds before responding just in case]
I'm fine.
There is nothing you need to apologize for.
I hope that you arrived again unharmed.
Am I to assume that you went home?
For how long?
no subject
It would appear so, though I cannot be certain of the passage of time.
Less than a month, but more than a week, if guesstimation is acceptable.
no subject
You were gone for nearly a month by my estimation.

10/1; plants a flag on your inbox in the name of jiros everywhere
Jiro had woken up at some ridiculous hour of the morning thanks to her moonblessings, spent an hour figuring them out, and...
Found herself feeling ridiculously lonely. Not only that, but it kind of felt like there was only one person who could help ease that loneliness, too.
Which is to say, when Momo wakes up today?
It's with Jiro, wolf bits and all, curled up and fast asleep at the foot of her bed.
Oh boy.]
It's not like she minds!
