Good morning. I trust you weren't waiting too long.

[He stands when she approaches, carefully blocking the space he was sitting with his body, and shakes his head.] Not at all, [He deliberates only a moment before holding his arms out to invite her into a hug-- it's sort of how he greets people, anymore, but it still takes just a moment of conscious thought to do.] How are you?

I'm well.

[She immediately steps in to take the offer, hugging him back gently.]

And you?

[His hug is a bit less light-- what about him is light, though --and he hugs her close for a moment, only to squeeze her a little and arch slightly backward to lift her off her feet, if only just. She's almost as tall as he is, after all.]

Well, I am in the presence of a very special lady, you see, so I must say I am quite grand!

[He sets her down, taking her by the shoulders and smiling in a horribly fond way.]

I believe, that is, if I am not mistaken, that today is your birthday.

You are not mistaken.

[She laughs joyously, hugging him back, face a little red from all the attention.]

I suppose that makes me seventeen. Though it feels like it was only a few weeks ago that I turned sixteen.

[His whole face pinches inward from how hard he smiles at her, finally letting go of her shoulders and turning toward the table.]

Seems that way! It's a bit odd, I agree. Here, have a seat.

[Yes, he's so. So energetic. It's cute! In a weird way.]

[He doesn't do anything even remotely half-assed, like he's marginally incapable of doing anything at less than 150% at all times. He waits for her to sit before he does the same, fussing with something hidden sitting at his hip on the bench beside him for a moment.]

Absolutely! I missed Midoriya-kun's birthday, and then I wasn't even present for Jiro-kun's, so I've set myself reminders to ensure no more birthdays are forgotten!

[She peers around him, trying to get a look at whatever it is he's hiding. Unsuccessfully...]

...Well, that's very thoughtful of you. Only...what are you hiding, Iida-san?

[A big dumb smile, and he lifts his hidden treasure-- it's a little box, full of several cubby-like squares, each filled with a different sort of tea. ...He couldn't for the life of him decide which she would like most, so he just opted to give her All Of Them. He presents it to her, setting it between them on the table.]

...Happy Birthday, Yaoyorozu. I know how much you enjoy tea.

[Yes. Yes she loves it. The look on her face is nothing short of delighted.]

Thank you so much! I love it. It's absolutely wonderful and you shouldn't have gotten me something so expensive.

Nonsense. It wasn't that much, and I may be the only one of us with a job?

A job that's not necessary, given the unique position we are in within the economy.

We'll have to try it sometime, soon. Together.

Perhaps, but I would likely go wholly out of my mind without something to call routine.

[Without classes, he was probably going slightly stir-crazy.]

I suppose that's true enough. I'm finding enough to occupy myself with studies of the materials here though.

[She...is a special case.]

Certainly a good use of your time, as always. Oh, but-- would you like to order anything, while we're here?

[She slides her finger down the menu.]

Avocado toast, and let's try their local tea?

[He smiles, nodding, and waves over a server. He proceeds to order for them both, and then turns back to Momo.]

Do you have any other plans for the day?

Just spending time relaxing. Jiro had something in mind she said, but that it was going to be a surprise.

[And she wasn't the type to try and wheedle it out of her.]

[His smile creases his eyes together at the corners.]

I'm sure she'll have something delightful in store for you.

Oh, probably.

[Ironically Momo has the delightful stuff in mind.]

She's...been really good to me lately.

[Well there you go. Sneaky ladies.]

[His smile remains.]

That is excellent to hear.

Yeah. She's...got a lot of good energy. I'm glad we're getting this time together.

[How is it not sneaky to surprise the surpriser on your birthday?]

As am I. Strange as the circumstances may be, and loathe as I am to personally take vacations, this feels a bit like a very unorthodox one.

It's true. It is a bit unorthodox, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I rather like some aspects of it at least.
