[It's the middle of the afternoon on the first day of the Sanguis cycle for the month... and Jiro still hasn't come out of her room. Is there anything wrong?
Definitely not - she's a late sleeper when no one's keeping her to a schedule, and Momo probably got to hear music playing from the room all day.

She's honestly just been spending some time to enjoy her moonblessings, which are finally back to normal. Jiro never thought she'd miss the fins so much...

Of course, while Jiro's done up for her cycle, that means Momo is (thankfully) 100% herself - and herself has gotta go out sometime, right?
But the moment she goes to open the door to the apartment, Jiro's door ends up swinging open as well, and she peeks her head out of the doorframe with a look that's almost worried.]

Wait - are you already going out? It's way too early for that, isn't it...?

[It most certainly is not. It's, like, two in the afternoon.]

[Momo is rather quiet, herself, typically spending some time in her room reading. She doesn't want to disturb Jiro anyway, especially not when she's jamming out like that. Nothing is wrong with any of this, as far as she can tell.

IT's getting on towards two, and she decides that maybe she should get to the store and get some stuff, nothing fancy...when the door opens and suddenly there's Jiro.]

...Is it? I was just going to the corner market. I thought you were asleep, but I can bring you back something if you want?

No, no - I, uh...

[For a moment, she looks off to the side in thought -
Before looking back at Momo again, and all that worry and everything seems to have cleared up, somehow!]

It might rain! Yeah, I heard it on the radio, there's a bad chance of one of those summer thunderstorms rolling in...
Maybe you should wait until tomorrow for that?

Um. Rain?

[Momo blinks and tugs out a handkerchief from her arm...]

It'll be okay? I've got this just in case.

And if it's going to rain, I should go quickly.

Nonono --

[She's wandering up to Momo from down the hall, now, with her snake tail and all her fins dragging along behind her.
The look on her face is almost... pleading? Almost.]

I mean it's really gonna pour down. What if you get caught in that?
It's definitely better to just stay home today.

Um...it's only rain. I'm not really worried about it.

[There's a short pause on her end as she studies the tail and fins and all these changes...]

...Do you want to come with? I mean, if you're lonely or something, that's okay.

[For a second, Jiro almost looks genuinely kind of hurt that she'd suggest she's doing all this just because she's lonely.]

Nah, I'm not lonely. I just... y'know.

[Though all that very little hurt drops as she ends up looking away, fiddling with a fin.]

I don't want you getting a cold, that's all.

[It's a flimsy excuse, and she knows it.]

What do you need at the store that badly, anyway?

[Okay this is weird. She's not sure what's going on, but Momo is willing to bet it's the fins.

There is something fishy at play here.]

Food? I ate everything I had, earlier.

[Do you want her to starve?

I've probably still got stuff. I keep a bunch of snacks in my room; you can have those if you want?

[Even if it's all her favorites... they're a worthy sacrifice.
Her tail's also starting to notably coil up around her feet kind of loosely, almost as if she's feeling insecure about this somehow.]

Plus I might have some extra food stashed in the back of the freezer...

[Momo is starting to have a concern.]

Let's come back to that. But, tell me what's wrong? Your tail...

[Body language is easy to read, sometimes...]

My tail...? Nothing's wrong with my -

[Jiro looks down, cutting herself off with the sight and instantly understanding what Momo meant.]

... Oh.
I'm just... cold.

[Which she is! Having cold-blooded parts haphazardly stuck onto your warm-blooded parts makes you freezing, like, all the time.
But it's also definitely just an excuse. ... You know, considering it's getting matched with Jiro reaching up to nervously fiddle with her jacks.]

Hey...

[Momo knows she's got more going on than that! So, she steps forward, reaching out both hands to Jiro. Please, take them friend?]

If something is bugging you, then talk to me. If I have to order in for dinner so we can keep talking, I will, but you have to start that process by telling me what's up.

[She takes a second, but she does end up taking Momo's hands after dropping her jacks.
Which end up sitting by her face in weird little angles, almost like mantis scythes, as if she's really feeling insecure for whatever reason...]

I mean, it's kind of embarrassing after all that...

[Which! Isn't telling her what's up at all. But it is her admitting, more or less, that something's bugging her.]

You're really cool with getting takeout just so we can talk?

[She knew it. Totally knew it.

Momo's hands close around Jiro's, and she nods. Confidently!]

Yes? The food isn't important, and this is clearly important to you.

[Yes, even if she's feeling lonely, that is important.

The depth of it she doesn't understand yet, though.]

So. Sit. Let's talk.

[Yep - fortunately for Momo, Jiro is always easy to read past the rather neutral face.
She ends up nodding a little, though, looking at their hands for a second before moving to go seat herself on the sofa - and only letting go of one of Momo's hands to make that happen, of course.

She ends up flopping down with her tail wrapped around from behind her, coiling up in her lap.]

I know it's not worth the effort to ask if you'll laugh or get mad or whatever, so...
I guess, to start, I'm not actually lonely?

I was doing pretty good in there by myself, listening to whatever. It's a brand new CD, so it's nice to have a chance to sit and listen to it with no distractions, you know?

[... And yet she heard the front door open over it, somehow.]

[Momo settles down, keeping close, still holding her friend's hand. She's puzzled now. Because that doesn't really make sense...]

Then why do you want me to stay so badly? It was clearly upsetting you.

[Jiro's fidgeting again just to give her nerves a point to focus on, spinning the ring hanging around her neck on its chain as she stares down in front of her at nothing in particular.
Though her hand does tighten around Momo's for a second.]

... Don't get mad.

[Yeah, because saying that totally bodes well.]

I don't really get it myself, but the thought of you going out and talking to people kind of... i-it felt kinda like something really important was getting snatched up from me?
Like, that same kind of rush you get when one of the teachers takes your phone.

Even though it was something so small, like going to the store...

[That's all followed by a wince, though, leaving her looking a little ashamed. Like hearing it come out of her own mouth like that made her realize it's kind of... awful?
Or at least, she thinks it is.]

[Bodes well? Hell no.

Momo's quiet, listening a little more carefully than normal, so...basically hanging on every word instead of every other. It definitely is a little strange. And it is completely and totally awful...]

...So you got jealous of me maybe talking to a cashier?

[Just, so they're clear here. She never uses her phone in class, Jiro. She wouldn't know that feeling.]

Don't say it like that, that just makes it worse...!

[Said as she looks away completely so Momo can't see her face, definitely ashamed now.
But after a second, she nods.]

I don't even know why - I don't usually get like this, but it was just so sudden and intense that I hopped out of bed to come stop you without even thinking...

Is it the moon?

[The answer is obviously yes. But she wants to offer Jiro a chance to say that and to give herself an out.

Just a simple question, but maybe it will help.]

[She looks back over her shoulder at Momo, her face a beet red underneath all her little white scales.]

Maybe? I don't remember - I haven't read Midoriya's notes in a while...
But he did get most of his Sanguis stuff off of Uraraka while she was here, too.

I don't know if she can feel something like that.

I wouldn't think that you had it in you either, normally.

[That's just a fact. Sorry, Jiro, she thinks you're more sweet than punk.]

So, it seems likely. I recall Sanguis being described as 'territorial' in his notes.

[It's true, she's very soft under all that leather! But something other than that still gets her to frown.
Hard.]

"Territorial"...? Ugh - that's gross.
Why would I get like that over you, of all people? You're even more independent and tougher than I am!

[... Of course, as she's saying this, she's just distracted enough to not notice her own tail sliding off her lap and shifting to stretch across Momo's instead.
Clearly with the intent to wrap around her middle, though it hasn't actually done so yet.

Because you can't help it any more than I can getting all heated during my moon.

[That seems like a truly obvious answer. She shifts a bit so that she can lean on Jiro, because there's no way that she hasn't figured out where the tail is going.]

It's likely a reflexive thing, that you don't even think about. And it's a habit we'll have to break eventually...because there will be an emergency one day during your moon, undoubtedly.

But today? It's alright.

[Jiro ends up going quiet for a moment after that, looking at Momo and the way she's leaning like that...
Before going ahead and wrapping that tail around her wholesale, consciously, with her arms going around her shoulders to match.]

Still feels awful. Especially because I still feel that way - I just want you right here, you know?

["All to myself" goes unsaid, but it's probably a little tangible in the way her hold tightens a bit.]
