[He smiles, nodding, and waves over a server. He proceeds to order for them both, and then turns back to Momo.]

Do you have any other plans for the day?

Just spending time relaxing. Jiro had something in mind she said, but that it was going to be a surprise.

[And she wasn't the type to try and wheedle it out of her.]

[His smile creases his eyes together at the corners.]

I'm sure she'll have something delightful in store for you.

Oh, probably.

[Ironically Momo has the delightful stuff in mind.]

She's...been really good to me lately.

That is excellent to hear.

Yeah. She's...got a lot of good energy. I'm glad we're getting this time together.

[How is it not sneaky to surprise the surpriser on your birthday?]

As am I. Strange as the circumstances may be, and loathe as I am to personally take vacations, this feels a bit like a very unorthodox one.

It's true. It is a bit unorthodox, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I rather like some aspects of it at least.

[He sags a little against the table, nodding.]

I am the same. The lack of structure to my day without classes is... befuddling.

What have you been doing with yourself, anyway?

Compiling books where I am able, and reading them, when I am not working.

[He looks over the box of tea.]

...Compiling tea, for the past many days. I had no idea it was such a versatile thing.

You...mean this wasn't a pre-prepared box?

[SHOCK.]

[His entire face turns pink.]

Ah-- no, um. I got a little overwhelmed, you see, and bought several, but then I couldn't decide which you might like best, so... I arranged them all in a box so you could try them all.

[And he had an entire conniption over it, too.]

Well, that's incredibly thoughtful of you.

[He smiles, drumming his fingers on the table between them.]

You're welcome, and I'm glad. It was truly a learning experience, but now I've a bit of a personal interest in it. Perhaps I'll have you give me some lessons, sometime.

In tea?

[Momo, of course, is jazzed about this. Because look. So many people support her and her strange interests, but few even consider trying to share them.]

[He waves a hand in front of his face briefly.]

Don't get too excited-- I'm afraid I can't drink very much of it, myself, so my interest can only go so far. I'm very sensitive to caffeine, but... Well, I figured, if it's something you're so passionate about, it certainly couldn't hurt to do some reading.

Well! There are teas that are completely free of caffeine! So, we can work with that as a base.

[She knows them all by heart!]

[He perks, intrigued.]

Are there? I had read of an... African, I believe it was, plant called-- ... [He makes a face while he tries to remember how to say the word.] Rooibos? But I couldn't entirely conclude through what little research I'd done if it was formally a tea or not. [Please teach him, Momo-sensei. Get it, tea-ch.]

Oh, that's a red tea. Yes...there's several similar plants. White teas have very, very low caffeine content, and we can test them to see how that affects you. Herbals have zero caffeine, if you get the right herbs, and I have most of those.

[Iida, what have you done.]

[Oh God what has he done. He's overwhelmed already, but he smiles anyway. It's good to see her fired up, really.]

Then I suppose I'm your pet tea project, for now.
